Tri-State ‘cuts me up’ on Facebook … I am Terrific in June … A bum in October!
I must take a detour before I tell you about my last weeks at CATV.
As you may remember, Tri-State submitted a letter on June 6, 2011 which was supportive of Northwest Corner Public Access, Inc. (NCPA) and commended me for my work as the facility manager. Although I have provided you a link to that letter, I should like to print the content in this post to remind you of what they said in June so that you may compare it to what they are saying now at WHDD on Facebook.
TO: Comcast, DPUC, NCPA
FROM: Tri-State Public Communications, Inc
RE: Transfer of Local Access from Tri-State to NCPA
To whom it may concern:
With Tri-State’s public radio stations requiring more and more attention, Tri-State Public Communications proposes to transfer all assets of the local
access channel from Tri-State Public Communications to Northwest Corner Public Access Inc.
This transfer would involve no money, all equipment at 77 South Canaan Road would be transferred , and all operations of said public access television
station, managerial, financial, programming, etc, would become the responsibility of NCPA. The only requirement that Tri-State has, is the
termination of our lease, transferred to NCPA with Geer, at 77 South Canaan Road, and the transfer of all existing telephone lines (voice and fax), from
Tri-State to NCPA at 77 South Canaan Road, and Comcast bills also transferred to NCPA from Tri-State (if any) at 77 South Canaan Road.
After transfer, NCPA would be the sole operator of the local access franchise with Comcast.
We feel with the terrific work that Mike Flint has done as manager the past three years, his company is the most suitable for operation of the channel.
Tri-State Public Communications
On October 5, 2011 Terry Cowgill (who is the President of NCPA) submitted this post at his page on Facebook:
To my NWC peeps: If you were wondering why CATV6 is a shadow of its former self and why the deal to hand it over to a more capable organization fell through, take a look at Michael Flint‘s blog. It might be more than you want to know, but at least it’s the truth.
The President of Tri-State posted the following on the WHDD Facebook page …
Ah, small towns, you gotta love em…this was passsed on to me tonight by a friend who saw it on Facebook…
To my NWC peeps: If you were wondering why CATV6 is a shadow of its former self and why the deal to hand it over to a more capable organization fell through, take a look at Michael Flint’s blog. It might be more than you want to know, but at least it’s the truth.
A shadow of it’s former self, hardly..I invite anyone in the area to come by and visit CATV 6…after weeks of rewiring, CLEANING, and re-installing the equipment in the correct chain, a FULL SERVICE, fully on-air capable local access television facility is on-air again. Not just a talk studio to go live for one host, but a full studio, with digital overlay and greenscreen, and three sets for MANY people to have a LIVE SHOW. Also, no more 75-25 percent mix of meetings, and programs from out of our area… its now a 40/40 mix of town meetings, and local programs, and 20 percent of national news, sports, LOCAL weather with our Total Info package.
When CATV 6 was left in the hands of Michael Flint, it’s equipment was wired by HB Communications, the same people who set up studios at ESPN, WFSB, WVIT, etc… It was a fully functioning studio. Mr. Flint rewired the whole studio, as two TV electronic sales people have said…ass-backwards, not using the full capabilities that were built in. This has been corrected. Light stands that were used for mic stands, no capabilities to record direct to our NEXUS digital box from studio A. I invite Mr Cowgill, or any of the Board members or the public, to come see what a professionaly set up local access station looks like…No new equipment was used, just a new hard drive, all the other equipment is the same that Mike and his board said was old, broken, and out-of-date…another miscalculation.
I am so glad Terry has visited so many local access studios, and has so much experience in broadcasting to make a mis informed judgement on the CATV 6 studios, and programming.
When was the last time in a two week period, CATV 6 had the following mix of local programs under the General Management of Mike Flint:
The Scottish Festival from Goshen, CT
Salisbury P and Z airing within 24 hours of the meeting
Falls Village BOS and Salisbury BOS meetings from October 3 airing within 18 hours of their meetings
Housatonic Football (2 games)
The Sharon Hospital Men’s health fair Prostate Cancer seminar with Dr. Roth
The Reading Jackie Program at Geer Village ( On Jakie Kennedy)
The Wizard Of Lies at Geer Village (on Bernie Madeof)
The Roads Of Salisbury with Dean Hammond
The Bluegrass Concert at Douglas Library
The Sharon BOS meeting
THe Goshen Fair
New Leash On Life Dog Rescue walk
Connecticut In The Civil War presentation at Geer Village
The North Canaan P and Z meeting airing within 18 hours of its meeting
And this weekend, their will be shows from three different locations of the Salisbury Fall Festival….
A shadow of its former self, no Mr. Cowgill, under Mike Flints management, it bacame a shadow of it’s former self, people can actully come and visit CATV 6 again, with out having to step over wires, equipmet strewn around, half painted walls from a paint job started by the former GM but never finished…the shadow has now been lifted, and LOCAL ACCESS TV, with a full mixture of meetings, events, and local entertainment broadcasting from a clean, and once again, properly wired facility is again a reality….the proof is in the pudding, we ask the public to stop by, and see for them selves..
Oh, and by the way, the former GM, Mike Flint should know we started our HELP segment that we asked him to create back in November of 2010…it’s a service that if you are you an employer looking to hire or you are unemployed looking for work all you do is click on a link at the CATV 6 web site, and will post your opening or search for a job on-air on CATV 6’s Help! announcements.
This is quite a turn from TERRIFIC WORK.
Tomorrow I will address the distortions and fabrications in Tri-State’s Facebook post and move on to tell you about the comments that Tri-State’s President made which caused me to leave CATV …
(Footnote: I do NOT edit comments from letters or posts of others … please forgive some of the misspellings and grammatical abuse)
